Shopping for your favorite female traveler? Not finding anything within your budget? Consider making one of these easy and unique travel gifts…there’s sure to be something she will love in this collection of 10+ DIY gifts for the travel enthusiast! Some are very simple, while some will take a bit more time to put together. Choose one and have fun making something memorable. Remember that a homemade gift scores extra points!
1. Mint Tin Upcycle: Jewelry Travel Case
I love the quaintness of this tiny jewelry holder made out of an upcycled mint tin. It’s a great way to store the few jewelry items a woman needs for special travel days. See instructions here.
2. An Oven Pad Organizer
This is a clever way to make a gift out of things you probably already have. And you can store sample-sized products, first aid items, or just gum and mints in an organizer like this.
3. Travel Quote Print with free printable
This is as simple as picking up a frame and printing out this free printable found at BecomingMartha.com. Classy gift!
4. Door Hanger
Remember the old days when hotels provided a door hanger so you could tell maids and hotel staff you didn’t want to be bothered? This is a great customized version–you can make this for use on vacation…or on a “staycation” at home! This fun idea comes from twigandthistle.com.
5. Travel Candle in a Tin
This is a fun way to add a little atmosphere (or needed light, in the case of an emergency) while you are traveling. Another fun upcyle of a mint tin, too! –From curbly.com.
6. String Art State or Country
I really like this idea. You could make the state where your intended recipient lives, the country she most likes to visit, or some new place on her bucket list. This project takes a little more time to get it right, but it sure pays off with a nice finished project. See the instructions here at ourcozycubbyhole.com.
7. Washcloth organizer
Now this is just plain clever, don’t you think? It’s one of my favorite travel gifts. Smart to use a washcloth to absorb any remaining moisture from a toothbrush, plus it’s just so cute! Find the simple instructions here.
8. Mini Lemon Travel Soaps
And these? Well they just look almost good enough to eat! If your mother/sister/friend is tired of using inexpensive hotel soaps that dry out her skin while traveling, these are the perfect gifts. Great moisturizing soap recipe and instructions here.
9. Fabric Charging Station
I’m always re-charging my phone, so I’m willing to bet this would be a great idea for a gift, too! Much better than letting your phone dangle from an outlet while it’s charging! Plus, this is so colorful and pretty, it’s not likely to be left behind. See instructions at positivelysplendid.com.
10. Embroidery Hoop Clocks
You can make clocks to tell the time in a traveler’s favorite international citiy…or in each city where she longs to go. This is a fun decor item as well! Instructions at consumercrafts.com.
11. Travel Sewing Kit
I’ve lost a button while traveling and wondered why I hadn’t thought to pack something like this. Now I have no excuses. And either will your special traveler if you make this practical and super cute travel sewing kit for her. Thanks to sew4home.com for this great tutorial.
12. Custom Travel Photo Mousepad
Anything that showcases travel photos is a win-win. What a wonderful way to be reminded of a special trip while using her computer every day! For more infomation, go to apieceofrainbow.com.
13. Custom Travel Photo Mug
And here is another way to showcase her favorite travel photos…
14. Map Flowers Bouquet
If you have a collection of old maps sitting around, this would be a fun project for you…and a fun one to receive!
Enjoy these ideas and start crafting!! Travel gifts are always welcome…
What fun ideas! I know that I always appreciate a gift that’s been handmade–it’s usually so much more thoughtful and more heartfelt than a gift card you can pick up at the local grocery store. 🙂
Thanks, Heather! I hope your holidays bring everything you want!
This is a great great list! I love the charging station and the jewelry box. Ha ha, hope Santa will read this comment 😀

Loving this list!, especially the map flowers.
Just LOVE this post and all the fab ideas. And so cool I could make most. I could use the Fabric Charging Station at home!
Truly a treasure trove of gift ideas for female travelers. Hope my hubby sees this list!
These are really unique gifts and a refreshing change from the hundreds of “gifts for the travelers in your life” posts we see at this time of year. I love that most are DIY (though that’s really not my forte). I will give the upcycled jewelry travel tin a go, though. I always struggle with where to store my jewelry for travel. And I love the map flowers. I think someone should make them for me!
I’d never think to buy a travel candle and now I want one! The charging station is a cool idea too.
