While there are artists everywhere, most people in the United States will go to New York City to purchase original artwork from one or several art galleries. This event is so important; they may choose to charter a flight to New York rather than hiring an art manager to shop for them.
Where to shop
New York is an art shopper’s haven. New York City has many world-class museums with some of the most impressive and famous works of art for your enjoyment. However, there are more than 1000 art galleries in New York City. Half of those are in the famous neighborhood of Chelsea. However, if you do head to Brooklyn, be sure to visit the DUMBO neighborhood. That’s where you will find the first gallery on our list. Finding the art galleries that satisfy your style of art may take some time. With that in mind, we have listed seven galleries that are well known for having quality artwork created by some up-and-coming artists.
Klompching Gallery
Klompching is one of the most impressive art galleries in the city. The owners are professionals, and they are very knowledgeable. They have beautiful exhibits and care about the artists that contribute to them and the customer that is looking for an original piece. David Zwirner Gallery

Only established in 2002, the Lehmann Maupin gallery is still considered the new kids on the block. However, they have been welcomed with open in. They are always ready to help new artist display their work and make their mark on the industry. This gallery has a good reputation for identifying the perfect pieces for their clients
Agora Gallery
Agora Gallery was established by an artist in 1984. It is considered one of the best galleries in the city of New York. They work to connect artists with collectors as well as to other artists Their goal is to encourage the ever-changing and ever-growing field of art. They feature paintings and sculptures both nationally and internationally.
Agora Gallery publishes a bi-annual magazine and has a wonderful website for convenience. The technology built in to their website allows a 3-D experience. It is almost like being there. You do not want to miss their exhibits.
Paula Cooper Gallery
If you had to describe Paula Cooper’s Gallery, the word “groundbreaking” would come to mind. Established in 1968, this gallery was a magnet for the new expression of art for the 1970s. Today she is still recognized as a leader in conceptual and minimalist works of art. A lover of expression, expect to see theatrical exhibits when you visit this gallery.

This is such an original article. Yes there are amazing museums there but true so so many galleries. Not in my budget lol but so great to visit them. I’ll have to check out the DUMBO area next time I go to NYC. Wow charter an entire plane (also not in my budget lol).

Dang, I thought I was pretty versed in NYC culture but I have never even heard of any of these galleries. Will definitely try to add one to my next city visit. 😉
